This is a great nursing theory literature currently being used in online Master course . As confusing as theory can get I feel this book does a great job of clearing it up but theory is theory and not every one will feel the same. You do have to possess a love of logic to appreciate this puzzle. I was pleased with the price since this online school was selling at a higher pricing and I received my books in a timely fashion and I love Amazon for that.

I'm not a big fan of theory, but this book helped to understand what it is, how it's used, and what some of the major theories are. Helpful for my class.

Pros-A good overview of nursing theory, and theorists. Has tables to break down parts of theories. I Love the fact that is available in E-book format. It is a good reference for a nursing theory course.Cons-Nursing Theory is an abstract subject that necessitates clear explanations. This book is does not give succinct definitions and applicable examples using every day terminology. Instead uses large words that I only have seen on GRE to explain already difficult to grasp concepts.

The book looked great and intact 2 weeks into class I realized the book has some missing chapters. Chapters 11 to 13 are missing. Too late to send back a rented book. I will get through the quarter.

I rented this book and the one I received had water damage that covered 50% of the book. I have to actually peel the pages apart to read it. Not acceptable.

The book is as described. It is required reading for my master's program but I'm actually finding the book enjoyable and educational. The style of writing is simple and clear, for the most part. It does a good job of explaining nursing theory.

The book was a little pricey but came in perfect condition and just in time for me to start homework for my nursing class.

Its a textbooks needed for a class. Follow your instructor's guidance on what to use and do for your assignements.

I try to be very fair to business books, but I didn't even finish reading this one because it was so elementary and ridiculous. I almost vomited after reading the words "execute" and "execution" a hundred times in the first chapter.This is one of many books written by formerly successful business people who feel the need (for posterity and/or outright arrogance) to take a five-page concept and spread it out over a few hundred pages.If you can master this simple principle, you don't need to read this book: Once you have a great plan or idea, you need to implement it effectively. To not effectively implement your great plan or idea, is a waste of a good plan or idea.That's it folks. The rest of this book is double-talk and business "war stories". The rest of the book is so pointless, you'd be better off spending the time with your family, or reading a different book.

This is severely dated at this point, and their knowledge of how IBM was run under Sam Palmisano is woefully incorrect. If you can ignore the first 3rd of the book, the other two thirds focusing on strategy and people processes are great. They all have to be in sync to move forward, but gone are the days of the line manager being pushed down from above to make all the decisions, instead it is up to the players to make the decisions.

For the Christmas Holidays, as we were packing the ski stuff from the basement before we left to VT, I chanced upon some books lying there, and noticed the one titled 'Execution,' by Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan which I had bought almost 8 years ago but never got around to reading it. On a whim, I decided to take it with me and ended up reading it through these holidays.A quick caveat to put aside. I do wish folks would not use company names as examples in books. The original one of these, "In Search of Excellence" by Tom Peters did that. So did Jim Collins in "Good to Great". And this book does it too. What happens is that the authors use some company as an example to cite either a good or a bad practice. And a decade has passed and things have changed (perhaps 180 degrees). And that induces a chuckle in addition to both dating the book and casting doubt on the claim.However, at least for this book, 'Execution', the above is only a caveat, since I found the book quite meaningful. The reason I perhaps did not read it when I first bought it many years ago is that it felt genuinely elementary. I was at the peak of my strategy work and when you are working on projects that are either reshaping a company or positioning oneself in new markets, the discipline of execution seems not only boring, but downright waste of time (not the importance of it mind you, but rather spending time thinking or reading about it).However, now that I have moved on from the strategy function myself and am in a line management role with accountability for business results and accountability for a team and partner-relationships to deliver those results, I view this book in an entirely new light!To share a personal reaction as I read this book ( a feeling I have not had since when I sat for my twelfth grade board examination!) - when I thought about implementing the ideas that Larry and Ram were talking about in their book on Tuesday morning Jan 2nd when I return to work, my stomach tightens into a knot! The level of sustained focus, discipline, follow through, attention to detail they expect in execution is non-trivial to say the least. Again, conceptually easy to grasp; but quite daunting if one thinks about putting them into real practice on a sustained basis throughout an organization!Very briefly, they touch upon the strategic, people and operational processes as three core processes that are building blocks for execution and show how the three are related to each other. And through their experience and examples demonstrate how to implement each of these effectively. One particular insight that I liked that Larry made in particular was, 'just because an executive is good in her current job, does not mean she is ready or capable for the next'. Which is similar to what our Chairman says, "do the job you have been assigned, not your previous one."Of course with a background in engineering (and manufacturing to boot), this whole notion of execution and organizing to execute is not alien to me at all. And in reality, my immersion for a long time in strategic work was what I needed to be more lithe in my thinking. However executing by one self or with a small team in a localized way on a specific deterministic engineering problem is one challenge. But to do the same with large revenues and large teams at stake and working through your teams through other teams with high week-to-week dependence on market conditions is another challenge.This timely book was very worthwhile spending time with. Dated examples notwithstanding, one of the more immediately useful and relevant books in the business genre that I have read in a long time.

Bossidy and Charan dive into the critical gap of getting things done in this management classic. Focused on execution, the authors discuss the critical components for leadership within an execution/get stuff done environment. Pointing out the failures of hands off management, ivory tower thinking and micromanagement, the emphasis is on those critical elements that combine the what needs to be done and who needs to do it to execute on a business strategy or operational plan.The critical linking of strategy, operations and people is the role of the business leader, and in order to accomplish that critical mission, the leader must be meaningfully involved in those three elements - not micromanaging them, but leading them to efficient execution. The leader's most important job is the selection and appraising of the people in the organization, and this element should consume the bulk of their efforts and should never be delegated. The leader must embrace this role and thrive in it to ensure proper execution of the strategy and operations.The combination of people and strategy lead to an operating plan, in which the execution takes place. This plan needs to be realistic, ambitious, resourced, specific and accountable. The authors note that this piece is often the art that falls short - where the operating plan is divorced from the strategy and people - and the execution suffers.The book has critical questions and suggestions for the leader, and provides a platform for thought that is focused on getting things done rather than just the what and who theory of planning. An important read.

I loved this book so much I arranged to visit Maria's pastry shop when visiting Sicily. It was an amazing experience to be able to be in the area, the shop and also to meet Maria while I was there. I actually learned to make the Frutta Martorana while in Palermo and am now recreating these gorgeous fruits and vegetables here at home. This was as a direct result of reading this book!

I am half Siciliana so I loved reading all about the goodies in this book. I have tried a few of the recipes and they are quite good. She didn't really nail the cannoli for me, but then my memories of cannoli are the Brooklyn-bakery kind, not the authentic Sicilian kind probably.The styory of her trip through Sicily is very entertaining. The pictures make your mouth water!!

I have many Italian dessert cookbooks, but this is fast becoming a favorite. The recipes are wonderful and not typical "run of the mill" found in other dessert books. Molto gusto!

I can tell you from experience that this cookbook is much more than just a cookbook. It's a manual for creating authentic Sicilian pastries and desserts. I learned many guarded secrets working for an Italian Bakery in my youth, and can say that this book should have never been published. Now all the secrets are out.Some reviewers have complained of typos in the book. If there are any typos, I believe contacting the publisher and author could easily clear the air and correct any mistakes. The author went through a lot of trouble flattering her interviewers and humbling herself before others to obtain these recipes, I'm sure she would want purchasers of her book to be successful creating these masterpieces. She even went so far as to list suppliers for hard to find items. Personally, I've noticed NO TYPOS!Buy this book, you'll never put it down.

I borrowed this book from our local library 3x and had to pay late fees each time because I didn't want to give it up. Finally ordered it from Amazon and am very much enjoying all the recipes and am able to give it the time and attention it deserves. Love, love, love all the recipes and never knew that candied orange peel was so easy and versitile.

This reminds me of when I went to sicily in 2011 when we ate all the food there yummy... true to the island itself... want to go back but this next time NO tours... want to eat and live the sicilan way on my own time. wonderful country if you never been you gotta go

I love this book. It gives so much info about Sicily where my grandparents are from. The recipes are great and remind me of my childhood growing up and we would always have the sesame cookies and St. Josephs pastries. It really brought back good memories and happy times with my family.

He has changed more lives for the better than you can possibly imagine. I know...he changed mine!

We mankind learn from story. If you are a military story fan, this book might worth a causal read. However, I doubt the stories really add value to Tracy's long time (and repetitive) core content. For it is just another compilation.And there's argument on the word "Proven". Ch.3 talks about the principle of the mass, "proved" by the battles such as Isandhlwana, Austerlitz, .... However in Ch. 9, the battle of Chancellorsville counter-prove that principle! So just take the word as a marketing buzz.

I have heard so many say that Brian Tracy is the best. This was my first of his books, and I haven't gotten thru it yet as I am finding it pretty tedious. Not a bad read, and it has some pretty good ideas to improve your effectiveness in life.The book consists of a number of "principles" that are pulled from military commanders and strategy. The first part of each chapter starts with an illustration from a famous war or battle, and shows how a leader's decision based on that principle made a difference. An explanation of the principle is followed by how it relates to company effectiveness, and finally the principle is applied to your personal life. Since the book relies on military strategy, there are numerous examples and philosophies scattered throughout that tie back to generals and wars.I've always liked Brian Tracy's writings. He is able to distill down ideas and concepts into practical steps you can take to become more effective. If you've read any number of personal improvement books, you'll see many ideas here that you've seen in other places. You may not have viewed them in light of military strategy, so that could lead to some additional insights. If this is your first exposure to self-improvement literature, you'll come away with a number of ideas that, once implemented, will cause you to become more successful in your personal life. If I had to chose just one self-help book as a reference guide, "Victory" by Brian Tracy would be my choice, hands down.

Oh my gosh!!! I criminalize with Lily and Hyde! wow it has me crying and telling at the book 😂 . I was a mess... But loved how they conquered all those lies and love was stronger than all of it t! I loved their banter and their moments of reflection. Cami always leaves me wanting more of her books!💗

It's nice to actually like both lead characters. I loved the banter between them and how Hyde took to her family. I WOULD like to see a different conflict than the automatically believing the worst about each other, though.Well written, clean, finished in a day, Cami is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers.

Getting your big chance to finally br in the right place at the right time came for these two beautiful characters who just wanted to love and be loved. Excellent story of how our everyday life entangle our everyday wants and desires. This book does that.

Lily and Hyde seem perfect for each other, but life can disagree in very painful ways. Another book to keep you awake all night. I love this series.

I was moved by the theme of forgiveness that was required by a number of characters in this book in order to overcome the obstacles that were faced.
