Leviathan series from Scott Westerfeld is one of the most imaginative reworkings of history in literature. The characters, including the great ship itself, are drawn in minute detail, so much so that one can not only see them, but smell them as well. The inventions of Darwinist and Clanker embellishing the differences between the British and German allies of the time are brilliant, deeply rooted in the personality of the opposing sides while maintaining a balance of empathy for both. Alan Cummings reading of this series shows the diversity of his talents, his mastery of accents and his unparalleled depth of character interpretation. He treats the story as if it were made of music, and he has an entire symphony at his disposal.

Completely splendid. I was a little worried about how this would end. I've loved the first two books, and after the last Harry Potter book ended a series I loved with a book I can barely tolerate, I'm leery of getting my hopes up too high. Even another of Westerfeld's trilogies, Midnighters, ended on what I thought of as kind of a bittersweet note, and I don't like bittersweet. With Midnighters, I wanted to see more because I wasn't satisfied with the ending. But with this book, I was pleased to be completely satisfied with how it ended, both the love story aspect and the rest of the plot. I'd still love to see more, of course. The story ends in such a way that the lives of Alek and Deryn definitely seem worth reading about, though as a trilogy called 'Leviathan', it's a definite ending. I would love to see more of this story. Perhaps he'll feel like writing another trilogy about Alek and Deryn, maybe picking it up during World War II, if it even happens in this world. I doubt he'll write more in this world, but if he does, I'll be eager to read it. It's been an amazing story, and a rare one in that my favorite characters are actually the main characters (usually I find myself preferring one or more of the side characters). This series is definitely one I would recommend to anyone who'll listen.As far as the reading (since I listened to the audiobook), that is also very well done. Alan Cumming is quite talented, and being able to hear all the various accents and languages that pop up throughout the story helps bring them to live and set the stage better than just reading the words. My only complaint is the way he reads Americans. His accent is simply ridiculous, and all the Americans, male and female, sound exactly the same. I guess it wouldn't have bothered me so much if it was just the reporter who sounded so farcical, but every American we meet had the same ludicrous accent. One small annoyance I had with an otherwise outstanding performance.To sum up, if you haven't read this series, do so (in order, of course), and if you've read the previous two and are wondering if this book gives a satisfying ending, yes, it really does (though it also gives the sense that the story goes on, but without failing to resolve any of the major storylines).

Is the final stretch of their adventure on the Leviathan and things are getting seriously complicated for Deryn and Alek. A simple rescue mission turns into a trip around the world escorting the infamous scientist Nicola Tesla, who may have the ultimate weapon for putting a stop to the war but at a terrible cost. Alek has finally figured out Deryn's secret and feels betrayed, confused. How can his feelings for Dylan Sharp translate to Deryn Sharp? But there's no time to think about this! With secrets revealed, old allies appearing, terrible inventions and incoming old enemies, Goliath makes for one electrifying finale to Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy!Deryn and Alek have come a long, long way since they first met in the freezing glacier where the Leviathan crash landed. They've kept each other's secret, helped each other, and saved each other countless of times. Deryn mostly does the rescuing, but now the tables are sort of turned now with Deryn having to be rescued a couple of times by Alek. It really comes in handy having someone know her secret. I've really enjoyed seeing these two characters grow through the series, and in Goliath they have to make some serious decisions. Will Alek pursue his throne, and leave Deryn behind? Will Deryn continue as a middy on the airship Leviathan and continue risking being discovered?This trilogy has been amazing from the very beginning. I'll never forget the beasties, especially the Leviathan, Tazza, and Bovril, the perspicacious loris. The Clanker machines were also incredible especially thanks to Keith Thompson and his breathtaking illustrations. The original vocabulary also made for a fun read. I would so use those curse words every single day, because barking spiders this has seriously been one of the best trilogies I've ever read. Goliath brought old allies and contraptions, but also new ones like Russian fighting bears, Japanesse Kappas, a Herculean, underwater fiber system, manta airships, and many more that just made me wish this series was longer! I'm extremely sad that it ended, and I hate leaving this world and these characters behind. I'll definitely come back to re-read this in the future.I've been saying it all along, and I'll say it again... This is steampunk at its best!!!

Bob Mitchell has written a moving, sophisticated and inspirational memoir of his several year journey with heart disease, which led to his having had a heart transplant two years ago at age seventy. it is a story of: remarkable personal resilience, the brilliant medical care he received, the extraordinary love and support that he and his wife Susan provided one another during their ordeal, as well as a profound reflection on life itself. Mitchell moves effortlessly between his experiences waiting in the hospital for a new heart and early memories stimulated by his uncertainty about whether he will live or die as he waits for a new heart. I found the recollection of his mother's reading The Little Engine that Could to Bob when he was about two years old as he was about to have both heart and kidney transplants to be the most moving of Bob's early memories. Bob is also a patient describing his experiences of months in the hospital, the constant tests, not knowing whether he will live or die, moved by the humanity of his physicians and care takers, dependent upon their skill, judgment and caring in order to survive. As a physician, I was deeply moved by Mitchell's beautifully written story, and I found his experiences as a chronically ill patient struggling with life and death issues on a daily basis to be very instructive. Bob Mitchell's HEART TO HEART presents an intense look at what has to be one of the scariest events in anyone's life: having one's heart removed and replaced. He survived, indeed prevailed, thanks to two loves, namely athletic competition and literature. I loved all the literary references and all the sports citations. I'm glad I never had to face Bob on a tennis court; he would have decimated me. Oh, yes, and thanks to one other love -- Susan, his wife, miraculously named Susan Love. I'm grateful for these loves, and for the book as well.

This is a cookbook I probably wouldn't have bought it I had been able to flip through its pages before hand. I always avoid cookbooks with color pictures of all the food since color photos seem to always mean they are trying to distract you from other problems. Since Amazon gave me a great discount on it with another book I was considering getting, I went for it. In the end, I'm not dissappointed.The first 36 pages are info about Burma, and I must admit the color photographs are all excellent. The recipes call for a lot of ingredients that are hard to come by in the small town where I live (small enough that butter is sometimes hard to come by), but they also look great. They are layed out well, and are easy to read. Some ingrediants have alternatives, but not nearly enough to make this usable by people who don't live in metropolitan area with specialty stores.

Having just returned from Myanmar we're very pleased.

Very good cookbook, I bought another one as well and it was terrible, the same basic recipe for everything in the book!

Gave it as a gift. It delighted the recipient. That was the goal. Good enough.

I am Burmese and I bought this book so I could cook the food of my country. Everything is very authentic and reminds me of home!

I have worked in the family office space for two decades as a director of a family office, leading investments and structuring, advising family businesses and managing family philanthropy. What I really like about this book is that it comprehensively covers all the core facets of a family office that I have dealt with in my career. Dr. Rosplock does this in an organized and accessible manner that informs the layperson who may have had no exposure to the field. It also serves as a reference for the experienced professional looking to supplement their own knowledge. This in no way surprises me, because I have read the same clear and organized communication in other works written by the author and heard this in numerous presentations I have attended by Dr. Rosplock to fellow family office professionals.For families that are looking to better structure what may become a family office or for experienced family office executives who are looking to educate their family principals on how to be better stewards of their own family enterprises, this book will serve as both content reference, as well as a means for communicating fundamental ideas. It takes hard work to build and sustain a family office, but that work becomes a little easier with the right tools.I give this book a five star rating because this book is a tool chest, user manual and guide (through story telling)—all combined in one. I only wish that I had had this book when I started out 20 years ago! There was nothing comprehensive available then and each family office stumbled alone in the dark to create their own separate reality, often making the same mistakes as others stumbling (unbeknownst to one another) in the dark just around the corner. No need to make those mistakes now that this book exists and you are not alone.

I like that this text is not overwhelmingly thick like other law books in the area. But goodness!!! This was way too expensive for the content. I really wish they would think about law students and purchasers and keep affordable like under one hundred dollars.

Delivery was spectacular, arrived as expected. I'm an adjunct professor for Common Law Property and this textbook, however, is terrible. It spends way too much time explaining all the history and theory around the topics the students must learn and only like a page or two on the actual topic at hand. It's a lot of fluff. I'm shopping for a better text for my students.

This product was described as in very good condition, with minimal highlighting. But it was actually a former Chegg book with so much dark, haphazard highlighting that it was painful to read through parts. And it took forever to arrive (as was disclosed clearly ahead of time--but they're not kidding! It really take a few weeks.) I wish I had just rented this, which would have been ten dollars cheaper. I give it two stars instead of one because it was an intact book, technically usable, of the title and edition described.

This is my favorite text book this semester. The book does an amazing job at explaining hard concepts with notes before just jumping right into the cases. It also provides problems and answers which are a must for property!

I want a brand new book. This is not. So many things highlighted inside. That is ridiculous

Terribly edited textbook. Property is a very dense subject and this book does you no favors in understanding an already complex area of the law. It includes lots of historical backgrounds and images. Also, the pages are painfully thin. Even pens will be very visible from the other side, so only use a highlighter if you don't want to be able to read the other side.

Good book. Bought it used. My copy was missing about 30 pages out of it. They weren't ripped out, but it was a publishing issue. The book did not ever have at least 30 pages in it.

Bought this book for my Property class. It worked well for what I needed it for.
